Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology, Indore, successfully organized a two-day National Mathematics Day celebration with the support of the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal. The event was designed to strengthen mathematical understanding, encourage creative thinking, and highlight the relevance of mathematics in engineering, innovation, and everyday problem-solving.

Day One Focused on Student-Centric Learning

The first day of the event was dedicated entirely to interactive and student-driven academic activities. A Linear Algebra–based Treasure Hunt challenged participants to apply mathematical concepts in a fun and collaborative manner. A Rangoli Competition based on the theme “Ramanujan: Inspiration for Young Mathematicians” blended creativity with mathematical thought, paying tribute to one of India’s greatest mathematical minds.

Students also participated in a Debate Competition on “Why Engineering Mathematics is Important”, where they articulated the role of mathematics in analytical thinking and professional growth. Another highlight of the day was the Mathematical Model Presentation under the Young Mathematician Award, titled “Unfolding the Wonders of Mathematics”. These activities received enthusiastic participation and promoted conceptual clarity, teamwork, and confidence among students.

Day Two Highlighted Knowledge, Inspiration, and Innovation

The second day began with a formal inaugural session that included Lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana. The event was graced by Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala, Director, and Dr. Anupam Mandloi, Vice Principal, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of mathematics in technical education. A short film on Srinivasa Ramanujan set an inspiring academic tone for the day.

The technical sessions featured expert lectures that kept students engaged throughout. Dr. Anupam Jain delivered an insightful session on Ancient Indian Mathematics in Modern Perspective, explaining India’s rich mathematical knowledge system and emphasizing that mathematics forms the foundation of all disciplines. Mr. Abbas Mhowwala captivated the audience with his lecture on Fascinating Numbers and Geometric Forms, taking students through the world of magical numbers and intriguing patterns. The session on Calendar and Day Calculation emerged as one of the most engaging moments of the day.

Another important session was delivered by Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala on The Role of Mathematics in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, highlighting how mathematical thinking supports problem-solving, startups, and technological advancement.
