The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology (SAIT), successfully organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme titled “GenAI for Educators” as part of a MIC-Driven Activity under IIC 8.0. The programme was aligned with the national initiative AI for Atmanirbhar Bharat, contributing to the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026 vision.
The FDP was thoughtfully designed to support the objectives of the IndiaAI Mission, AICTE’s declaration of 2025 as the Year of AI, and the broader national goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. The focus remained on capacity building, responsible AI usage, and the integration of AI-enabled pedagogy within higher education institutions.
The programme aimed to empower faculty members with both foundational understanding and practical exposure to Generative Artificial Intelligence. Participants explored how AI can be meaningfully integrated into teaching methodologies, assessment processes, academic planning, and daily academic workflows, preparing educators for the evolving landscape of AI-enabled classrooms.
The sessions were conducted by Ms. Shazia Umar, a Microsoft Certified Trainer and Authorized Learning Partner at Microsoft, who brought valuable industry and academic insights. Through structured sessions and interactive demonstrations, faculty members gained clarity on the fundamentals of Generative AI, AI-driven tools and platforms for educators, ethical and responsible use of AI in academics, and strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness using AI technologies.
The FDP was hosted at the Networking Lab, SAIT Building, providing a focused environment for discussions, hands-on learning, and collaborative engagement. The programme strongly aligned with key themes of the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026, including human capital development, safe and trusted AI, democratization of AI resources, innovation in education, academic excellence, and the broader vision of economic growth and social good.
Faculty participation throughout the programme was highly enthusiastic, marked by active discussions, practical exploration of AI tools, and meaningful exchanges of ideas. The FDP significantly contributed to strengthening AI awareness, encouraging pedagogical innovation, and enhancing institutional readiness for adopting AI in higher education.
Through initiatives like this, FDP, SAIT continues to reaffirm its commitment to future-ready education, equipping educators with the knowledge, skills, and ethical understanding required to lead in an AI-driven academic ecosystem.
