It was a beautiful morning on the 19th August 2023, when students, faculty, and staff from the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Pharmacy (SAIP) gathered to make a difference.
As part of the SAIP-Event committee's initiative to foster social responsibility, an Awareness Program was conducted at the stunning venue of Ralamandal in Indore. Under the guidance of event coordinators Mrs. Namrata Kushwaha, Ms. Seemu Singh, Ms. Sonam Chaturvedi, and Mrs. Neha Upadhyay, the program successfully took flight.
First, a note about the venue - Ralamandal. This scenic location in Indore is not just a trekker's paradise but a spot that holds the serenity of nature at its finest.
Often visited by locals and tourists alike, Ralamandal offers a slice of natural beauty in the midst of an urban setting. Its lush greenery and panoramic views served as the perfect backdrop for the day's activities focused on plantation, cleanliness, and gender equality.
As the clock struck 7:30 AM, 64 participants including 9 faculty members, 52 students, and 3 non-teaching staff embarked on a bus journey to Ralamandal. The air was thick with anticipation and the spirit of teamwork. Upon arrival, the participants were already fueled by the morning's enthusiasm, ready to make a tangible impact on the society.
The day's proceedings began with a cleanliness drive under the banner of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Students and faculty set forth chanting slogans and, more importantly, putting words into action.
Armed with gloves and bags, they picked up waste such as plastic, cloth, cans, and bottles along the trekking route. The objective was clear: to remind every individual about the role they play in keeping their environment clean.
After reaching the summit of the trek, the group switched gears to focus on plantation. With shovels in hand, each student planted a sapling, contributing to a greening future.
The feeling of the earth in their hands was symbolic of the direct impact one can have on the world.
The event also featured a skit performed by students to address a topic of utmost importance - gender equality. Through a powerful narrative, the skit conveyed the significance of treating everyone equally, regardless of their gender.
It's one thing to learn about social responsibilities in a classroom, but it's wholly different experience to step out and act upon those principles.
The students were able to understand their duty as citizens in promoting a cleaner, greener, and more equitable society. The program was not only an educational experience but also an emotional one, building a sense of community and responsibility among the participants.
The Program received positive feedback from the attendees.
Mrs. Latika Pal remarked, "The overall experience was really nice and got an opportunity to motivate people as a team."
Similarly, Ms. Megha felt that the program was "successfully conducted as per the planning and got to learn something new."
As we reflect on this transformative day, the credit goes to the SAIP-Event committee for organizing an event that struck a balance between learning and community service. The program was a mirror to the difference that collective action can make in society.
Whether it was picking up that stray piece of plastic or planting a sapling, each small step taken was a leap towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
The Awareness Program at Ralamandal was not just an event but a meaningful experience that will echo in the hearts and minds of the participants for years to come.
After all, when education goes beyond the confines of a classroom, it becomes a tool of empowerment for the entire community.
As the participants made their way back to the campus, they carried with them not just memories but also the determination to be the agents of change.
This program was an affirmation of the belief that education is the most potent weapon to change the world, a philosophy that is at the core of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Pharmacy.
Here's to many more initiatives that educate, empower, and inspire.
