Introduction

In SAIT, the Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year 2010 with a 4-year degree program of B.Tech. Subsequently a 2 year M.Tech. program in ‘Industrial Engineering Management’ was started in the year 2011, with an annual intake of 18 students.

The course curriculum is designed as per the norms and standards of AICTE. It has been regularly updated by the RGPV to include developments in the industry such as Robotics, AI, CNC machines, CAD and CAM, etc. There are four major areas of specialization for a student to choose from viz. Design, Thermal, Production, and Industrial Engg.

Aerospace Industries, Indian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence, Automotive Industries, Biomedical Industries, Government Agencies, Construction and Building Services, Manufacturing Industries, Energy Utilities and Engineering Consultancies are some of the Public and private sector industries and agencies who employ Mechanical Engineers in a large number.

Our departmental research seeks to understand advances in thermal engineering and microchannel heat exchangers at B.Tech. level and the Green supply chain management, and Industrial engineering techniques at M.Tech. level.

Faculty members of our department are engaged in active research and they publish their work in reputed international journals. The research work is also presented at reputed national/international conferences. All the Faculty members have a Master Degree and some are continuing with their Ph.D.
