IMPACT LECTURES SERIES by SAIP-IIC

With a theme dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation, SAIP-IIC came up with an impactful lecture series- Session 1. The first lecture was conducted on the 11th of October 2021 on “Innovation and entrepreneurship in affordable health care technologies” by Dr. Rohit Srivastav, Prof. Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT-Bombay. The objective of the event was to acquaint students with an understanding of what innovations and entrepreneurial skills are needed to be developed for affordable healthcare technologies in India.

Mr Pujan Kamani, Principal Researcher, IPD Analytics, Gujarat spoke in the second lecture on 11th of October 2021 on the subject of Intellectual property rights in India and implications for health innovation, where he told students about  Intellectual Property Rights, their types, and the role of patents in pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

“Innovation is the development and application of ideas that improve the way things are done or what can be achieved.”

On the 23rd of October 2021, SAIP-IIC came up with Session- 2 of the impact lecture series on the topic “Innovation by artificial intelligence and the role of AI in drug discovery” by Dr Mohit Mazumder, Director, Global Business Development, Bioinformatics Education, and Research, Pine Biotech, USA.  The main objective of this lecture was to acquaint students with an understanding of what artificial intelligence is, and how artificial intelligence is an important tool in drug discovery for affordable healthcare technologies in India. 

The second lecture was conducted on 23rd October 2021 on the subject: “Translation of innovative ideas into the enterprise in Pharmaceutical and healthcare sector”. The speaker of the session was Dr Shrinivas Savale, CEO, Atal Incubation Centre, L.M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad. The objective was to make students understand What is an innovative idea and how these ideas can be converted into an enterprise in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
