Induction Program 2024 at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Pharmacy (SAIP)
The Sri Aurobindo Institute of Pharmacy (SAIP) recently ended its highly awaited Induction Program 2024 (Nov 25 – Dec 2, 2024). This week-long...
On Monday, September 30th, the SAIP ACS Student Chapter began a wonderful introductory session, ‘Create Magic with Chemistry,’ at Sri Aurobindo Group of Institutes' (SAGI) Auditorium. The ACS Student Chapter at SAIP organized the event to introduce the new chapter to the students. Ms. Palak Dubey, president of the chapter, along with executive members Ms. Kashish Hoondlani and Mr. Ashraf Khan, led the session.
After an introduction to the American Chemical Society (ACS), its glorious history, and its worldwide network of institutions and members, the session began. The ACS Student Chapter gave attendees a chance to learn about the ACS Student Chapter and how it would benefit chemistry students at SAIP by providing research and growth opportunities.
The session by our expert speakers Mr. Yash Bhandari and Mr. Akhilesh Bailaiya was the highlight of the event. They were experts on drug design and development, and that piqued the imaginations of budding chemists. In addition, the speakers highlighted how the ACS Student Chapter will enable students to access the resources and funds to explore the advanced fields of chemistry, including drug research.
The live experiments the speakers did pulled the audience in because that was what truly captivated the audience. As they burst a balloon with a dollop of petroleum fuel and put on show the power of the hydrocarbons, the 'Create Magic with Chemistry' theme came to life. They realized how chemistry can make counterfeit currency seem as fun as it is useful, using water and a simple color indicator to show how it works.
The next guest speaker, who kept energy moving, brought the audience a great fun, and educational video of a unique chemical reaction, once again proving that chemistry has its surprises. A discussion on the need to be an ACS member ended the session. Details of the benefits of joining the ACS Student Chapter, including access to global resources and networking with other chemistry enthusiasts, were explained.
The event ended with each of the ACS Student Chapter's executive members giving themselves introductions to the attendees and their roles within the chapter. This gave students a chance to interact with our chapter leaders and learn what they had planned for the year.
Overall, we were very happy with how the “Create Magic with Chemistry” session went and we are very excited to jump into many fun Chemistry activities and opportunities as a part of the ACS Student Chapter for SAIP students! See what’s next!
